Behind The Board: Part 3, A New Chapter at Descartes 5

2023 turned out to be way better than we could have ever hoped for. 

After ten months of balancing two jobs, running events and fulfilling orders while trying to focus on my professional career, I made the verydifficult decision to take a break from teaching and to focus on running The Board Barcelona full time. I wrapped up the school year in June 2023 and then spent the summer planning the businesses systems and structures and adding new products to our menu. 

In the fall, we launched our first hands-on, interactive workshop at Bridal Avenue. 

Over the next few months, we hosted more workshops and created countless  boards for small, intimate gatherings, picnics, and birthday and anniversary gifts. We designed personalized Grazing Table displays for businesses and brands with gorgeous, seasonal flowers alongside our gourmet grazing products. 

In the spring, our trademark was approved, Ana joined our team, and we kept ourselves extremely busy with private orders and larger events. We continued to run our workshops and loved meeting  so many of you.

The icing on the cake was being featured in Elle Gourmet’s 2024 Summer Magazine. We loved what they had to say about us, and we are so grateful that such a prestigious magazine would want to write about us.

Through all of this, we were quickly outgrowing our small professional kitchen space. We couldn’t believe our luck when we stumbled upon a new space that was just perfect for us – it was too good to be true. 

So, we jumped on the new opportunity to open our very own HQ & Gathering Room. We got the keys, began designing the space, and began renovations.

So, what’s next? 

In the fall of 2024 we will operate from our new space where clients can come and collect their orders. We will host tastings, workshops, wine & cheese nights and more…the possibilities are endless!

What’s the vision? To create a beautiful space where people can come together and gather around OUR table, creating memories while laughing and chatting over good food and good wine. We plan showcase the BEST of Barcelona, to be a careful curation of Barcelona’s finest, and to stay true to our core mission of creating aesthetically pleasing, gourmet products that can be found from Barcelona’s local suppliers.
